Mumbai/New Delhi: More than 600 Internet experts, policymakers and technology leaders are set to gather in Mumbai for APNIC 62, the 62nd APNIC Conference, as Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity and the rapidly growing demand for digital services place increasing pressure on the Internet infrastructure required to support emerging technologies and future Internet-enabled innovation.
Hosted by the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) and the Internet Service Providers Association of India (ISPAI), with the support of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Government of Maharashtra, APNIC 62 is being organized by the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC), the region’s not-for-profit Internet number registry.
The conference will bring together technical experts, network operators, policymakers and leaders from across the Internet community to discuss some of the most significant challenges and opportunities shaping the future of the Internet.
Key areas at APNIC 62 will include AI-powered services, network automation, cybersecurity, routing security and Internet governance.

Distinguished guests at APNIC 62 will include S. Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, and Rajesh Aggarwal, Chief Secretary of the Government of Maharashtra.

The focus on IPv6 adoption and Internet infrastructure at APNIC 62 comes as the conference brings together members of the Asia Pacific technical community to exchange knowledge, share practical experiences and strengthen cooperation around the continued development of Internet networks.

The APNIC 62 Opening Ceremony will feature keynotes from Lightstorm Group CEO and Managing Director Amajit Gupta on AI-driven network automation and JPCERT/CC’s Yukako Uchida on the role of trust and cooperation in cybersecurity.
NIXI and APNIC to Sign MoU on IPv6 and Routing Security
On September 8, on the sidelines of APNIC 62, NIXI and APNIC will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing the deployment of key Internet infrastructure technologies, including IPv6 and routing security.
The MoU is expected to contribute to strengthening the security, resilience and long-term development of India’s Internet infrastructure.
The collaboration will form part of the discussions around Internet infrastructure, routing security and IPv6 during APNIC 62, which is bringing together Internet operators, technical experts, policymakers and other stakeholders from across the Asia Pacific region.
APNIC 62 Conference Dates and Focus
APNIC 62 is being held from September 4 to September 10, 2026, in Mumbai. The conference includes technical workshops, conference sessions, policy meetings and community events focused on building a secure and resilient Internet across the Asia Pacific.
Through APNIC 62, the Internet community will examine the technical and policy issues emerging from the rapid growth of AI-powered services, digital connectivity and Internet-dependent technologies.
